Default transmission pan

well i dropped my pan and have everything ready to put back together but im stuck.

on my tranny, where the pan bolts on, its smooth and flat, but on the pan, from the dealer they used RTV and my pan has a groove in the middle of the outlining lip. do i get all the rtv out of it or just the flat parts off...looks like my gasket would seal either way but just wanna be sure

When I changed the fluid on mine I had the same problem. So I cleaned all the RTV
out of all the grooves and put new RTV on with a new gasket.
