Default Radio Quote at Best Buy NIGHTMARE!!

So, I decided to go to Best Buy, and get some clarity on upgrading the speakers on my truck. I have the MEDIA CENTER 740N CD/DVD/MP3/NAV. Anyway, the installation guy told me it would cost me anywhere from $2000 to $4500 to change out the speakers, add an AMP, and change out the subwoofer. Now, by no means, am I a stereo finatic. I just want a better sound than I currently have. The radio system in my wife's Honda Crosstour puts mine to shame. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated. I would like to put Infinity or Boston Acoustic speakers in the doors.

The guys at Best Buy are jokes... last week this guy could have been selling fertilizer or shoes. I went this route one time and their advice was absolutely horrible, but not nearly as costly.

I'd look for a reputable stereo or sound system shop and deal with them.

I agree....they also do horrible work, I had speakers put in my s10, and a few months later they were cutting in/out and when I took the covers off the speakers to look at them the wires were just electrical taped together....I ended up redoing the job myself with crimp connectors...

Stay away from Best Buy!!!

Find a local audio store to work with.

You can go for a stock for stock size replacement. Component speakers work great, whether 2-way or 3-way.

I've used JL amps, Infinity and Kicker speakers, Alpine subs in my truck. I settled on the JL amp, the Alpine sub and amp, and a set of Hertz 2-way component speakers. I have their 3-way speakers in the SRT.

Lastly, the amps suck in these trucks. Consider upgrading your amp. It makes a huge difference. The speaker change out will help but the amp is what makes it all work.

Later, you may want to upgrade or add a subwoofer.

Two-way speaker
Two-way, or coaxial, designs reproduce your music's frequency range accurately. These speakers use a separate tweeter — mounted inside the woofer — to deliver the high-frequencies.

Three-way speaker
Three-way, or triaxial, speakers take the separate woofer and tweeter from a two-way design and add a midrange driver for enhanced warmth and texture. Select three-ways use a supertweeter, instead of a midrange, for extended high-frequency response. Four-ways combine a woofer, a midrange, a tweeter, and a supertweeter for even more detail. A three-way system can also be a set of separates (bass - mid - tweeter).

Thanks....what's stock? I'd guess 2 way....but the head unit lets me adjust lows, mids, and highs(I think)...so that's confusing if it is 2 way lol

To be able to answer that, I need to know how many speakers you have and what head unit you have.

lol, and I thought it was a simple answer....

I really don't know on the head unit.....the stock SLT one haha...it has a cd player, aux input, sirius button, a bunch of other buttons that I can't use (bluetooth, u connect...I dunno)....I have two speakers on the dash, and one in each door.

EDIT: I can ask these questions in a separate thread as to not continue my thread jacking...lol
