Default 2001 Dodge Ram-Shifting Problems

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram Sport and I had a problem one 40 degree morning. I was driving normally and about to enter a main road (35 mph) and the truck would not shift passed 20mph. After a while I put it in park and it randomly started shifting again. I also believe my RPM's are running higher (about 250/500).

Any help would be great, thanks.

How is the fluid? Filled to the correct level? In good condition?

Have you adjusted the bands in the transmission?

Sorry to seem tedious, but like ORT and I alluded, was it serviced? Fluid changed, yes, but did you change the filter and adjust the bands? If the filter is getting clogged that can cause problems. Hate to say it but you're probably looking at a shift solenoid beginning to get ornery. Higher running rpms can indicate slippage possibly from a fluid restriction.

I did not adjust the bands but changed the filter and fluid. Only happened this one time. Should I get the bands adjusted or see if it was a fluke or if it happens again?

Always adjust bands when servicing transmission. However, since it just happened once, even a new one can do that. Still thinking it probably just wanted fresh fluid/filter.

hey guys sorry to butt in but sounds like you know your stuff. when at full throttle its shifts weird almost like tits shifting twice but its not. its the only way i can describe it. also if i were to go to a shop do you guys have an idea of the price to adjust the bands and do full service. i dont mind changing fluid and filter but trannys scare me to be honest.
