Arrow 1st or 2nd Gen 4.7?

Hey guys, new to the site, and I am curious. I am not sure what 4.7L came in my truck. It is a 2008 Quad Cab and it has the Flex Fuel 4.7L engine in it. Anyone know if this is the 235 or the 310 hp 4.7?

Lucky you, 2008 was the first year of the 2nd gen 4.7L (310 hp 330 lb ft). Also lucky for you if you're interested in performance, the superchips tuners add 50hp and 55lb ft max gain on 91 octane to the 2nd gen 4.7L

not so lucky for engine bolt on parts, we are very limited on what we have to choose from (underdrive pulley, headers, etc)

But snrusnak is current you have the 2nd gen motor and have the best tuner available (imho).

Well I have an Volante Cold Air Intake and Flowmaster Cat-back exhaust, but as far as engine that is all I have for mods. With the exception of the programmer, which I will most likely get, any ideas for other descent performance mods? Also, I know the principle behind underdrive pulleys, will that effect the output capability of my alternator?

Erm, Fastman's Throttle body mod, Electric Fan, Underdrive Pulley are the few the comes to mind off the bat.

The underdrive pulley Helps reduce engine load, yes it will reduce the output of the stock alt. but some UP comes with a pulley for the alt to overcome that, or you can put in a higher rated alt.

The only parts for the 2nd gen 4.7L are basically the following:

ATI UP (great product, very expensive, no provisions for a matching alternator pulley)
Fastman TB mod (inexpensive and a decent mod)
CAI's
Catback exhausts (no headers available)
Same trans upgrades as older 4.7L and the 5.7L
There are some others I'm sure, but that's basically it...
