Default Dropped the transfer case..

Has anybody dropped out their transfer case and then a day later the rear transmission seal is leaking?

I cautiously removed the TC, not like I jerked it out and broke the seal.

Think the weight of the unsupported tranny output shaft could distort the seal enough to leak?

Oh, and the tranny was rebuilt 20k ago, so the seal is nice and new looking still.

I dont want to have to replace the seal if it will go back normal when realigned by the TC. On the other hand, I dont want to button everything back up and have a weeper...

So it is just hanging there by the driveshaft? Yeah, the weight of the tranny will compress the seal at the top possibly causing a gap at the bottom of the seal, if left long enough it will take awhile to conform back to the original state. If worried about that replace it since it is a simple pop it out and tap one in job with the drive shaft out.
