Post Towing Capacity

Just hooked my trailer up to my new Ram 1500...I have a 20ft enclosed car hauler made into a mobile store. I have been pulling it with my 03 expedition and it tows fine, squats a little before the equalizer is hooked up. My 01 Supercrew would not even let me get the trailer off the jack before the box was resting on the tires. The guys at the dealership steered my away from a 3/4 ton and said for what I was hauling the 1500 would be fine. Well, I hooked it up today and it really squated the truck, alot more than the expi, does anyone know what a good air bag system would be, or am I just not used to how a dodge should set with the trailer.

First what is the tongue weight of the trailer, and overall weight of the trailer, and how often do you tow?

I have noticed that the rams do squat more then most 1500s I have noticed, I think this has to do with the rear Springs instead of the normal Leafs in the rear.. I am ordering a set of Air Lift 1000s for my truck for next years camping they offer 1000 lb of leveling capacity

Default Trailer Weight

trailer is just under 3100lbs empty, I have about 1500lbs in it on a normal day, it is loaded a little front heavy but I would not bet the tounge weight is not over 800lbs.

From what I've seen there are several different rear spring rates being used. There is also the gear ratio to consider. You should be able to use the VIN number to see your actual tow capacity

For point of reference: I have a 2011 1500 4x4 quad cab Hemi w/ 3.92 gear. I tow a 31 ft travel trailer that is about 7-7500lb loaded. Not sure of the tounge weight.

The 1500 does "squat" more than my previous 05 2500 QC 4x4 Hemi w/4.10. However, due to the lighter spring rate, and greater HP, I think the 1500 tows better. For the record, the 1500 does not sit low when towing the trailer. Looks level

The 2010 & 2011 tow rates are the same
interactive website http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/

tow rates involve
cab type & series, a standard cab can pull a larger weight
tire size & rating, 17" tires can pull 50 pounds more than 20"
engine size
stick or automatic transmission
spring type, coil or leaf
