I like it. Throw in a Hemi and you`ll have a rocket! SRT8 6.1 Hemi. Chrome wheels, orange paint with flat black stripes and AWD. It would be a blast to drive. Although I do agree. It`s not a truck.

Why would they name that a Dakota? Why not just bring it out as a new model altogether?

I loved my 02 Dakota, it was a nice mid-size truck with a V8 and was capable of hauling ass or a loaded trailer. After 04' the Dakota line went downhill IMO, but if they brought back a nice body style and teamed it with a hemi I would buy one in a heartbeat. My favorite part of the 97-04 was that the body was wide and low, from the back it just looked mean with a nice set of wide tires. I don't like the trend of taller body trucks, i.e. Chevy S10 to Colorado and 3rd Gen Daks to the 4th Gen.

Don't like it. The last generation Dakota was pretty fugly, but functional. I agree with prior poster who said the older early 2000 era daks looked much better. I think my 2000 looked pretty good (for the 12 years old in the pic).

Here's what the market wants IMO, 4 door option, a useful 6.3 foot bed. Make it so you can option it up to be the little truck that does big work... 1,800 payload option, tow 8,000 pounds, less than 228 inches long so that it fits in most suburban garages and isn't a land barge. No bigger than 2005 Tundra, weight around 4,500 pounds. Make the V-6, 4.7, 5.7 or 4 cyl turbo diesel an option and bingo.

The snout/bumper on my 2011 Ram 1500 looks like it sticks out 6 inches. Wasted real estate if you ask me.

If want to call it a Dakota fine but keep the RAM off of it. Looks like the little sister of a Honda Ridgeline.

Not to be mean but being a jeep guy, by them killing.....I mean changing the Dakota opens the opportunity for jeep getting a real truck in their lineup. The reason jeep doesn't have a truck right now is that the dodge people complain that a jeep truck would flog the Dakota in sales.

If they produce that and put the dakota name tag on it I will personally drive to detroit and cocksmack the ceo of whatever division produced that monstrosity. 01-04 dakotas were some of the best trucks produced in my opinion. Loved my 01, still my favorite truck Ive ever owned
