gp2011ram Thank you for the name of the dealer you had your converter replaced at.
I will give them a call tomorrow and make an appointment for next week, it's about a 2 hour drive but worth it if they have experience replacing the defective converters.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again.

Well my 2011 Ram 1500 with hemi (10,000 miles) went to the dealer today. they called a few hours later and said the torque converter and other parts have been ordered and they will call me when the parts arrive.

No hassle what so ever with the service department so far.

Im from london ontario. So its a bit of a treck. This is the first that my dealer has heard of this problem. but they ordered my new parts. Im assuming your having difficulties trying to get your local dealerships to help you out with your probem.

RogueVette Where in Canada are you? I'd like to find a dealer that will do something about this noise too.[/QUOTE]

I started noticing the growl around 4000 miles. Thought it was the exhaust till I noticed a little sluggishness. Something isn't right. Taking it in next week.

Joining the club. Started "growling" a few thousand ago and asked dealer last week if they knew about this. He said yes, but since the replacement hadn't fixed the problem in the past, they weren't doing them anymore. About 15 minutes later, he came back and said the transmission guy told him they updated them so we scheduled an appointment. Took it in today and got a loaner for the day. Also having them flash it for the harsh 42 MPH downshift issue.

Angry torque converter

hello i have a 2011 ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 slt with 16000 miles on it . it just started to act up while driving now it sometimes starts to shutter like its not all the way in gear . took it to the dealer they said it sounds like the torque converter is NOT locking up . so now i have to get a rental and let them dig into it . it is still under warranty anyone else with this issue ?

Hey guys and gals.

I have read all 26 pages and I have to tell you that I am a little concerned. I purchased a 2011 Dodge Longhorn in August and I only have 1900 kms. I did notice a difference when it kicked down from 8 to 4 mode so I guess this is standard.

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow morning and inquire with them about changing the TC out for a new one. I haven't had any of the issues that other people seem to be having. Did it make a difference when or where the truck was made or is this the standard problem on all 2011 Rams?

Any input would be appreciated. My truck is in the garage for the winter so should I just look after this problem when I take it out in May???

Thanks for your time and I have to tell you that I am very thankful for this forum and all the members.....

Take care and be safe.

Ed

Had it changed out last week. Forgot how quiet they can be. Also had the transmission flash done for the 42 mph hard downshift. They did a second for the keyless start or something. They weren't even sure what that one was about. Performance CJD in Omaha treated me good on this one.

Just dropped my truck off at the dealership this morning. Should be done today. I hope this is a one time fix, i will let you all know what the outcome is once i get it back. Miss my ram already. The rental charger i got has no comparison to my ram.

I think you will be very happy when it is done. I have had no issues or noises since I had mine done.
