Heard the noise this morning so apparently the RRT for the drivetrain did not help. But at least they tried. Looks like it will be going back to the dealer.

Hi All, figured I'd weigh in on my experience with this. In May I traded in my 2002 Ram 1500 that had given me 11+ years of great service for a 2010 Big Horn Hemi. Due to the great summer up here in the northeast, I spent most of my time on two wheels. On the times that I did drive the truck and on a trip to Cincinnati, I noticed what seemed to sound like a rattling at certain speeds/RPM's, and also when under load (heard it while I was hauling a cord of firewood). It sounded like a loose heat shield or some kind of pre ignition (knocking/pinging) coming from the rear.

A few days later while I was at the dealer for the leaking third brake light seal, I figured I would ask the service writer (not the one I usually have dealt with the past 10 years) about the noise and he said they would have a tech drive with me. Well we were barely out of the lot when he told me it was a normal noise coming from MDS mode and nothing could be done. The writer also said he had a 4th generation Ram with the same noise.

Not satisfied that the irritating noise was "normal", I went to work on the forum here and found the Star Case for the TC. It listed exactly what I was experiencing. I printed out a copy and called the tech writer I normally deal with and told him about the Star Case and he said to come in at my convenience and we would test ride with a transmission tech. I did and the tranny guy heard the noise and ordered the TC which was put in yesterday. I'm happy to say that I noticed immediately that the noise was gone. I drove it a good hour and tried all the methods that caused it before but it's not there. What a relief to have that Ram ride back.

I just wanted to say thanks to all who post here with info like the Star Case. I believe having that in hand made getting the problem fixed that much easier.

Default courtesy dodge in brandon Fl said trans was normal

I had my 2011 Dodge Ram for 11 months .It was at Courtesy Dodge in Brandon for two days they said nothing was wrong with the transmission .I drove the truck down the street and traded it in on a new Frontier. That was the worste customer service I ever seen ,I took a giant loss trading in a year on truck that I replaced wheels, grill, lower suspension, added bed cover, It was the first and last Dodge thatI will ever buy.

So you traded it in because one dealer didn't know what they were doing? That makes no sense. Should've gone to another dealer

I also have the torque converter issue, but it didnt come about until I upgraded my torque converter to a circle d 3000-3200 stall. once upgraded there was a grinding like noise, more or less like a really loud locust sounding noise coming from my transmission.

Also after changing the torque converter I have trouble reaching the stall from a dead stop at wide open throttle, and while braking and giving it throttle at the same time. It is almost like the computer doesnt like the high stall and will not allow it to reach the stall unless I am already moving.

I am not sure how to fix either problem, but would be interested in figuring out a solution for both problems. If anyone knows how to fix the higher stall issue I think i can live with the locust like noise.

Your issues have nothing to do with the factory issue. Yours is due to something being wrong with your aftermarket one. Contact circle d and they should get it figured out

You installed the converter yourself? Are you sure you had it fully seated onto the oil pump?

Yes, the computer IS holding back your torque. We have two different stall torque limits (which limit the engine torque in 1st gear): one for when the brakes are applied, and one for when the brakes are released. So there will be a difference depending on whether your brakes are applied or not.
