Thanks,

I really listened for it and put it in tow/haul mode last night and no noise at all.
From reading this thread I was worried because I'm sitting at 15.0mpg and having a bit of trouble breaking the tires loose. (most replies say that when the TC got replaced they went up to like 18 -20 mpg and could break the tires loose easily).

I've got the 3.9? rear end and too scared to stomp the pedal to the floor yet. Still babying it. somewhat. Anyways, I'll keep an ear out for it, but may be harder cause my 18" magnaflow came in last night.

My torque converter and flex plate went 365 days (1 year) after I bought
her new. Dealer took care of me, and no problem since!!

I voted "I can't determine for sure if I have this problem"., but now I know I have the problem. After 8K I started to hear it and it' slowly getting worse. I guess that means I'm off to to the dealer. I hope they don't play dumb.

When I spoke with the service manager about the TC he was not aware of any reports. I told him about the Star # and all he had to do was look it up in the computer, asked a couple of questions, and said he'd replace it. I just returned home from a 2400 mile round trip vacation and had it replaced at the turn around.
On the way out, I saw one tank at 19.1, going through mountains on secondary highways. On the way back, I saw 18.3 on secondary mountain roads again, but these roads were more up than down and I had an extra 1000 lbs of stuff in the back. I was impressed.
Overall, I've noticed a better response to throttle, both in take off and passing.
I'm anxious to see how it does on my daily commute for a tank to compare.

Default TC noise

I hear it all the time. I think a lot of people just do not know what to listen for. But the answer options on the poll do not fit my situation. I plan on getting it fixed when it breaks as it is under warranty. If I decide to keep it past the warranty period I will take it in before it expires. I wonder if the 2012's still have this issue or if Dodge has made the fix?

New converter for 2012, so problem is supposed to be resolved. I wouldn't wait for it to break, it could take out your entire trans then...

Exact same question here with my 2011 Regular Cab Sport 4x4.

It is likely just beginning to appear for you. The "grinding/frisbee drag" would sometimes be there, but not consistently until after 1200 miles on a 2400 mile trip. My truck is the 2011 CC Outdoorsman as well.

IMHO I'd have both of your trucks checked. I'd go armed with the Star # referred earlier. I only had to provide the # for the service manager in Maine, but in Detroit Metro area, I had to take a service tech for a ride and could not produce the sound so they wouldn't do the work. At that time, I did not have the Star # information though. Ya never know until you try.

Good luck!

Welll I hit 800 miles today, took it down to the dealer for the shuttering and little grinding noise. They ordered me a new torque converter... Will have it replaced next week.
