I finally took my vehcile in for this TC issue. No problem really. The dealership has had a few before me. The part is ordered and I will report back when the job is complete. I hope this gets rid of the MDS shudder and vibration as well. One thing at a time I guess.

My parts were ordered today. Took it in and they ordered the parts, might be a few weeks until I get it put in...hunting season is kicking in can't be without my truck then. Might be middle of December unless we can get it fit in during the week sometime. We will see hoping for a good one and a fix.

Posted this in another thread, but I thought some folks here might also be interested:

The noise (we call it "warble") is caused by excessive lash between the turbine hub and turbine damper spline inside the converter. There is a small amount of tolerance on the spline teeth (for both parts), so the lash will vary from converter to converter. Many will have a small amount of lash, and therefore no noise. Others will have slightly more lash, and therefore will exhibit the noise. The noise is not a durability concern, but it is an annoyance for those who notice it. The replacement (2011) converters have a tighter turbine hub spline (which is actually an interference fit in some cases) which eliminates the noise. The turbine hub is the only part that changed, so replacing your converter will not improve performance or fuel economy (only the noise).

The part numbers for the updated converters (with tighter turbine hub splines) are: 04752705AA (for 4.7L engine), 04736911AB (for most 5.7L engines), or 04736982AB (for the 5.7L RT model).

By the way, the new converter design introduced for 2012 MY fixes the noise issue and also improves fuel economy, so 2012 models should not exhibit this problem.

Yes, Thank you! I am barely hearing the noise at 9300 miles and didn't not want to take it unless it meant further damge. Sounds like I am good to go.

Thanks!

Don't hear any noise so far. But it only has 1500 miles. Build date is 05/2011

Transengineer,

Why would a company design parts with machining tolerances on parts that could possibly cause issues, ie: "warble" ?

That designed in "warble" gave me 3 months of B.S. and a totally screwed up new truck experience.

Not blaming you, so please don't think that. Just frustrated me enough to never buy another Chrysler product again, that's for damn sure.

Here is a question for you. Will the 2012 torque converter fit and work in a 2011? They are ordering me a new converter today, want the best possible one
