Post Light tinting and badge painting

What are you guys using to paint the ram badges black? I see them painted, and I would like to do it, just not sure what type of paint to go with.

Also, anybody used tint to blackout their lights? I want to do it on my headlights and taillights, anybody use tint shops for the labor?

Check out this link for the tint. I haven't done mine yet but I want to. Doesn't seem too terribly hard. Not sure on the paint, but do a search and I'm sure you will find the info you need.

Are you looking to paint the rams head black and the background a different collor? Timmy916 (i believe is his name, i know its 916 lol) has a good writeup about painting the emblems.

As far as paint used most guys just use plastidip for the ram/grill and the colormatch spray cans available at your local autoparts store for the background (the grill RAM head comes apart and allows for easy painting)

For your taillights you can use VHT nightshades. It comes in a spray can. I have a can but havent done it yet. I have heard that if you use it on headlights or fog lights it gives the output light a red tint to it
They also make a different kind of tint for lights but I havent used it. My brother tinted his marker lights on his Mustang with 35% window tint and it has held up for almost three years now but they are only curved a little bit and are set back in the bumper so they dont see nearly the abuse the lights on a ram would.
Like said plastidip is common because it can be easily removed

There is this stuff called plastiadip that I used on my 350z and my jeep compass that I had. What you do is mask off the area (say the ram 1500 on the door) make sure you are about 2 inches away from the letters. You spray one coat directly on the the letters, if you get it on the paint that is fine. WIt 30 to 40 mins between each coat. I would only do 4 coats, personally. But when you are spraying the emblems make sure you do it evenly. Don't get too close otherwise you run into getting bubbles in the paint and it running. Once you are done with your final coat let it dry for about and hour to an hour and a half. The plastadip will peel off of the paint. To get it out of the letters use a toothpick or something that will not damage your paint. Once you get all the excess off the paint let it dry over night. The next day you should be able to wash your truck. The only thing is with the plastadip is the it will make you letters have a matte finish. I liked the way it looked on my jeep, but I haven't really had the time to do it to my truck yet. You can also look on YouTube on how to do it. That's where I learned. Happy painting!!! (:
