Default Broken HVAC Vent

I have a broken vent already on my new Ram. My kid accidentally kicked the left HVAC vent that is located in the center console facing the back seat for rear passengers. It broke some of the horizontal peices including the center knob that adjusts the direction of vent. Is this somehow repairable and hopefully an easy fix? Can just the vent be purchased from a dealer and can it be removed and replaced in the center console somehow?

I know this doesn't sound like a huge problem, but I have only owned this truck for 3 weeks and would like to try to fix it so it is useable again.

thanks for the help!

Try the dealer I'm sure ther can get you a new vent, no telling what it will cost.
Gen 4 trucks are new enought I couldn't find any replacement vents on-line sorry.

Old Hot Rod,
Thanks fro the reply. I guess I will try out the dealer to see if they can get me just the vent itself.
Do you happen to know if this vent somehow just pops out of the console to be replaced or is it more involved then that? Do you know how to replace it? thanks again for your help.

S77R,
Have the same issue, son busted the same vent. Was it an easy fix, and was it very expensive?

Call a junkyard or a pick n pull, probably much cheaper than the stealer

jmoore, my vent is still broken and has remained the same! At the rate I am going you will probably get yours fixed before me so if you get any information on the part or install please post back here.

I have not found much function out of these rear console vents, they barely do anything for the rear passengers so this fix has taken a back seat to other things!

Ask your parts man if this is the correct #Part# : 1RB86DX9AA, if it is you are going to be in for a surprise at the cost. Around $53. Here is a link from the RAM owners site to go to MOPARS Estore: http://www.mopar.com/shop-by-dealer/. Just put your local dealer or zip in and enter your vehicle info and you can look up parts with diagrams and costs for parts only and parts and install costs. I find it quite handy.

Yep, that is the part number. I bought it today (they knocked 20% off), so with tax came just under $50. Dealer installed it for free, so it must have been easy to swap out.

Appreciate all the responses. Don't have the time to go hunt at a pick a part, although it would have been nice not to waste that much money on a stupid plastic piece. Don't know why I obsess over a piece I can't see, and as you said, doesn't do much for the non-existent air flow in the back.

Good to hear it was an easy swap out but as anal as i am about broken or non working items, i still refuse to pay $50 for a small plastic vent in the back that is barely noticeable. I have taken a look a at a few junk yards but not may 4th gens there. One of these days I hope to come across one!
