Exclamation Voiding Warrenty?

I just bought a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 ST In February.
We all know the ST package doesnt come with anything so I wanted to buy a auto starter and a keyless entry remote for the truck. If I have someone install this, will it void my warrenty?

Big picture- no, your warranty will rmain in place. HOWEVER, if you have an warranty issue that can be directly tied to the remote starter/keyless entry install, the dealer has a legitimate reason to deny the claim.

The one way around this- if Mopar has the part available, and the dealer installs the part, the above situation is not a problem. May be a bit more expensive, but IMO is worthy of consideration.

All this is per the warranty booklet for 2011.

I would just go to the dealer and have them install the factory keyless entry system w/ auto start. But, there are lots of options for auto starts, none of which I have ever heard causing warranty issues. I installed a Compustar 2-way on the gf's new caliber and the tech who did the last service on it never said a thing since they are VERY common up north.

The only reason they'd void the warranty is if the aftermarket system failed and did some damage to the truck.

You can get around that by installing a MOPAR accessory system as Kurtis ^^^^ suggested.

Agreed, I think the cost is about the same. I had a buddy with a problem with an aftermarket entry and he ended up going back to the dealer and install the factory system.

I already purchased a Vipar 2 way Auto start + keyless entry from (Dont kill me) best buy. And it comes with free installiation BUT, the "Professional" says that it will cost me a extra $115 because he needs to put a chip in order the auto start to work.

If you have a Quad Cab with the factory Power Locks the truck already has all the keyless entry stuff. I bought a refurbed FOBIK and had a local tech program my truck and the FOBIK. Took about 10 minutes.

Chrysler and most techs will try to tell you it cant be done but it can.

-Add sales code GXM to vehicle options.
-Under Diagnostic procedures with Wi-tech do a restore vehicle reconfiguration.
-The Wi-tech will then reset.
-Go into the WCM under Misc functions hit the Reset WIN configuration.
-Clear all codes then program the new keys.

PS Worked like a charm with a $40 refurbed FOBIK on my 2010 Ram 1500 ST Crew Cab. Just make sure the key you get has the old vehicle info erased by the supplier or it wont program for yours.

Yes, My Quad cab has automatic locks. Thats not the problem tho, the problem is that the installer says that he needs to put a chip in the vehicle in order for the AUTO start to work.

Go to Best Buy- return the stuff you bought- get the factory stuff installed.
Less hassles, less worries, and no best buy to deal with....
