Default Another won't start story...

OK, so this happened 2 or 3 times previously, but only for a minute or two. Now it has happened and it seems to be for good. I get in the truck, put in the key and turn to auxiliary/start. Radio comes on, but no cluster/indicator lights, no gauge movement, and no turning over at all. All electrical items work- odometer coming on when door opens, lights all work ( interior, brakes, headlights), radio works. The first couple of times this happened, I would turn the key off and on several times, and the cluster/indicator lights would finally come on and the truck would start. The last time previous to this, the same thing; only this time I shifted into neutral, then turned the key. The indicator lights finally lit and the truck started- might have just been coincidence. Now the indicator lights will not come on at all and no starting. Everything electrical still works fine, radio, headlights, brake lights, interior. Just no indicator lights in auxiliary/start position and no turning over at all.

My guess is something is bad in the ignition module in the steering column. Anyone had this problem before? And is it something I can fix myself, or am I headed to the dealer?

First thing I would do is check the wiring connectors under the dash and on the bottom of the IPM (AKA Fuse Box). Unplug and re-plug to cycle the connections. Do this with the battery disconnected.

Hey. I have a very similar problem ocurring that I am hoping for some additional help with, as I checked the connectors under the dash.
What I have noticed when my truck goes into "won't start mode" is that the factory keyless does still operate the doorlocks, but the horn honk telling me the security system is armed is very intermittent. This no startng thing has happened to me 7-10 times leading up to the truck now dead in the driveway. It usually lasts between 5 - 10 minutes and will fire up. Usually I look like an idiot getting in and out of the truck locking and unlocking it with a key, thinking it could be a security system issue. Also, I kick the crap out of the clutch thinking it could be a safety override. When it decides to fire up, it starts just fine, no real lagging or anything like that. Please help.

In the bottom right of the dashboard does the ETC(Electric Throttle Control) light come on when you're having this issue?? If my ETC comes on before starting it then were golden, but if it doesn't come on then I know I'm in trouble. The ETC looks like a little red lightning bolt in the bottom right corner of your dashboard.

I have a very similar problem and it never starts for me consistently but when I get it to the dealer it fires right up. Originally I had the pc replaced that was tied to the ignition, expensive repair but it worked welll for a few months. Ohh also like the very day I got my truck back for the pc getting fixed the alternator went out. Got that fixed, now I get out here on the east coast and my truck wont start, they find out my crankshaft sensor is mangled and replace that. Now I'm driving the truck in a parking garage and it just dies and wont start. Tow it to the dealer and the next morning what do ya know it starts.
