Red face Expert opinions needed.

I have an 03 Quad Cab with the 4.7 2wd. Saturday we were out and when I started the truck, it started shaking and misfiring. Wouldn't take throttle and the check engine light was flashing. I shut it down and restarted it a few times with the same result. Finally I just gassed it and it coughed then "boom" ran fine. It ran ok the rest of the day. Could my TPS be going bad? It was definitely something electrical.
Give me you best advise oh wise ones.

Mad

Could be you have a couple injectors leaking, essentially flooding it. Is the engine light on? If not I doubt the TPS being the cause.

Sounds like the throttle or sending unit to the throttle may have been stuck open or closed. Just a guess though. What codes was it throwing?

Yeah, I would start with pulling the codes to see what you get? Otherwise you might be 'guessing' a lot!

Good Luck.

Got codes?

Gonna need those to really narrow down the cause.

The only code I get regularly is the one for the gas cap. The light was flashing when it was misfiring then stopped when the motor ran good again. I'll try to get the codes read this weekend.

The CEL flashing is the generic OBD warning for missfires, doesnt really tell us mutch when we know it was missfiring all ready.

can we pay the code guessing game? Im going with P8362, I have no idea what it is, but it seemed like a good combo lol

Does the 4.7 have a distributor or coil packs? Because this sounds a lot like a cracked distributor cap.

No distributor. The coils sit on top of the plugs.
