Default eco-blah

eco-turd....So tired of hearing its a all new motor. The eco-boost is based on there old 3.5 motor with two t15 garrett turbos. Im gonna just whip out the credit card and buy me two garret turbos. Drive it like a grandma and get 22 mpg on the highway and say wow its so new. The direct injection is nice but there just using the their old ways "lets take what we got a throw some boost in it"

I just got 4.10 gears and there is no way im buying the hupla. Buddy at work is getting one and im rubbing my hands together....cant wait

My wife has a 2011 Taurus SHO with that engine and it flat out flies. I get 27 mpg while she gets 19 funny enough. I'm not so sure I'd want that in a truck in fact I know I wouldn't buy it but her car with the awd is ass kicking.

I think you'll be more than surprised what the EcoBoost can do....to the point of eating your words. With newer cars/trucks, it's more than just slapping on some turbos- unless you get a total standalone FMU.

I love my Ram, and posted earlier the reasons I chose it after going thru all the gyrations of researching, test driving, and crunching the numbers. That being said, even with the bland (IMO) Ford interior and exterior styling, the turbo Ford was a strong contender- great seamless power, decent ride & handling. The deal killer was the pricing and dealer experience.

While there may be no replacement for displacement, I'm saying that forced induction can have a solid leg up on a larger N/A engine- and is easier/cheaper to make stupid power with. I wouldn't recommend you racing for anything other than pride or drinks- you just may lose your shirt...even with your 4.10s.

it won't be long before dodge follows ford, ford sells like 50 percent of their trucks w eco boost. there is a market for fuel efficient trucks, i bet it goes through all of our minds with gas at 3.50 a gallon and 100 dollar fill ups.......

It's like the guy at the gas station asked me one day. "hey what's the gas mileage on those new camaro's? I bet it sucks..." I told him, you don't buy a car like this if your worried about gas mileage, besides I don't care, (as I turn and look at his car) but you must care a lot.... Needless to say, he didn't like my answer too much....

I'd rather pay 3.50 to fill up my RAM then drive off in something that sounds like a pissed off bumble bee (ford ECO-buzzzzzz)... The thought of having a eco has NEVER crossed my mind...

besides with TWO turbos, I would hope it would be faster.

Also, I hope nothing goes wrong with the motor after 60, 000 miles.... can we say bye bye warranty...

I can understand how you feel, but the great american public is not going to buy 13 mpg trucks when the competition screams that their trucks get 50 percent better mileage for long. like it or not probably the wave of the future

Yeah your probably right, lol.. It's where we're headed, but as long as they still make V8's that's what I'll own, and when they stop making them then I'll just keep what I got. They don't make factory carb engines anymore but I still own one of them.
