Default Stuck in the Snow

Hello everyone, this upcoming winter will be my first with me 06 3500. I wanted to get some chains or straps in case i have to pull friends out of the snow that are stuck. What are the best kinds to use and any links would be appreciated

I'm not a fan of chains, they can be dangerous. I get my straps from a rigging company. I have a 10,000 and 20,000lb strap. You can buy "name brand" recovery straps from some companies like procomp.

Their site is acting up so here is an ebay link.

Definitely get a tow strap, chains end very badly, and suddenly when they fail, and there's no indication of failure until it just snaps. When a strap fails, they don't normally take out the bumper like a chain does.

The only chains that should be in your truck are a set for the rear wheels so you'll have proper traction if driving on ice or pulling out vehicles from snow banks or ditches. A good set of chains will prevent a lot of issues, or allow you to get yourself our of most situations on your own.

You can hook them to tow hooks are trailer hitches.

Or you can get one of these things.

I run a D ring through an old 2" drop reciever since i dont used it anymore. I would advise against tow straps with open hooks on them and get yourself atleast two nice D rings. Also if you happen to pull someone out throw a jacket or something similar over the strap in the middle to keep it from flying.
If someone doesnt happen to have a good recovery point on there vehicle, let them hook it up as thats usually when things get broken.
