Default FYI concerning "ECO ON"

I thought that "ECO ON" always indicated that the engine was using only 4 cylinders. But after reading a post here, I wasn't sure. So I ask Dodge. Below is their reply. Just thought I'd pass this on.

ECO-ON will illuminate when you are driving in a fuel efficient manner. It is not indicative of how many cylinders are being used.

When my ECO light is on MDS always seem to be activated as well. I can tell pretty easily when MDS kicks on with my Magnaflow installed.

The information you received is accurate. I am in ECO mode anytime I let off the gas pedal it seems. There is a noticeable difference when MDS kicks on.

ECO activates when you are driving like your grandmother.
MDS activates when you've been driving like your grandma for at least the last few seconds, and you are not going up a hill...

Does the MDS have a speec that it stops activating? I've heard anything over 65 and your using all 8 cylinders.

It's based solely on throttle position and power demand on the engine. At 65mph, your likely requiring more power from the engine then MDS mode can offer efficiently. I had one condition where at 100mph, I had a good tailwind and was traveling down a very long hill and MDS kicked in. I was pretty much backed right off the throttle at that time.

ECO & Fuel Saver are the same thing,
ECO is in the 2010-11
Fuel Saver is in the 2009

Then why no ECO ON when manually putting transmission in 5 and driving the same fuel efficient way? Even when letting off the gas.
