Default Dealer Rant

Ok there are hundreds of things we could rant about but I like to keep an open mind about most things.

The fact that the tech said my tires/wheels were aftermarket (nope it was the stock 20" sport rims) and that the tps sensors missing was the reason the air pressure numbers were flashing struck me as odd considering I could see it had numbers for each corner even if they did flash but then selling me a 2011 ram with 3 open recalls? really? I go to another dealer now.

What has your dealer done since selling you a car/truck that makes you go to another dealer or even consider another dealer?

FYI I wouldn't even complain about the open recalls if I bought my truck new. I bought it used and would have thought a VIN check for recalls to be standard. I also had it in the shop 2 days later for the TPS issue and they still didn't run the VIN for recalls. Recalls are for power steering line, Door latches and the rear axle issue which bothers me considering 3 days after I bought it I towed my 07 Mustang GT from Vegas to Yuma, Az which is a 300 mile drive and I made it in 4 hours with one stop for fuel that lasted 30 minutes. You do the math and figure my speed. Unsafe at best!!!!!!

During a normal oil change, the service writer asked me if my 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T had a 6 cyl or an 8 cyl.

Really? Tires burning rubber out of that dealership

God after hearing all these horror stories about dealerships im so glad for mine!!!

Weve bought 3 trucks through them (a farm truck, my old mans truck and now my truck) and everything has been perfect! They even call us when there is a recall not just an emai lor try and let us find out on our own. My dad lives in CA 3/4 of the year and they set everything up with the dealership out there to get fixed to, they jsut tell us when to show up and thats it!!!

Sucks to hear about your shitty experience. I would have MADE them run my VIN right there or gone onto the owners website done it myself and asked so WTF is the deal?!

Yeah I would have done it but I wanted to get the paper worked signed and get home. I wanted the truck and love it very much but I had been up since 4:45am and it was 11pm. The fact that I had to get back up at 4:45am didn't help. I ran the VIN the next day with Dodge and they finally got the parts installed today for the recall. Just wondering why a recall search wasn't part of the used car inspection when they run it through the shop? I only have another week in this town. Hopefully I find a good dealer in Vegas to service my truck.

Never had a problem with my selling dealership, they were excellent from sales to service. The other two I have to deal with after they closed however, bit different. The one furthest from me, so far I have no complaints about. The one 15 miles away has room for improvement.

When I hear these stories, I am reminded once again how blessed I am to have the dealer I have. Even when I book an appointment for an oil change, they run a VIN check to see if there are any outstanding recalls, and if so, they ask if it is OK to do it at the time of the OC....and always give me a time estimate.

That is the way a dealer should be. When I bought a car from North County Ford in California back in 2001 they sent a tow truck to get the car 11pm at night when the plastic impeller blades broke off the water pump in San Diego leaving us stranded. Then the service manager himself drove 45 minutes to get me and my friends after the tow truck left. He even drove us back to the Barracks after getting everything taken care of. While the car was in for a new water pump they found 6 open recalls and said they needed the car an extra day for all the recalls. I have no complaints about that place and wish more dealers were like that. The Duratech engine however is pure junk in my eyes.
