Default The Beast

My kids named my truck 'The Beast' after naming my wife's 2007 Aspen 'Beauty'. Might be a slow go, but I thought I would document my mods as I do them here and will definately be open to suggestions as I go. So first, The Beast as it looked the day I picked it up. It is a 2003 2500 Laramie with the Hemi. Heat was blowing only out defrost so it had to have the doors under the dash replaced and that was a little expensive. Then the trailer hitch had the receiver stuck in it. I sprayed it with wd-40 and punded on it for a week, tried heating it up with a torch and couldn't get it to budge. Finally took it to a hitch shop and they cut it out and mounted a class 5 in its place. So here she was to start:

First mod was the mirrors. I liked the look of the towing ones, and I planned on towing so it seemed like a logical place to start. Ordered them direct from Mopar so it was an easy install and I got the keep my power and heat in them:

Stereo was the next mod. I put in a Kenwood KVT-516 and the Bluetooth and Nav modules. Also added a Kenwood CMOS 300 backup camera. Here was the factory head unit:

The new head unit closed:

And some of the screens:

Next on the list is a CAI, a cat back exhaust and a tuner. Still researching but looking at the Magnaflow single in dual out, the DiabloSport Trinity and undecided on the CAI as of yet. Hopefully those will happen in the next 2 - 3 weeks.

Forgot one mod - right after the mirrors I added Bushwacker Pocket Style flares (see pics above) painted to match the body color.

I've gotten a stuck trailer hitch off by lubing the heck out of it, and then attaching a chain or rope around a tree and giving a little slack to about 5 MPH and just letting the hitch stop you if it's going to or break it free. I did this on a dakota and it came loose on the third pop. letting someone else deal with it is always better on something like that if you can.
