Default 3M Eraser Wheel

These one time use specialty tools are expensive. Since many of us want to debadge our vehicles, would someone who has one of these wheels be willing to donate it for use on the honor system by mailing it to a member and then that member mailing it on to the next? I remember doing this on another forum for a similar situation and it worked out well. You would just have to keep track of who has it and who to mail it to next. Mailing costs would be alot cheaper than going out and buying a wheel for one time use. Just a suggestion.

How much do they cost?

If you did this I think the "owner" of the wheel should be paid a small price from each person who uses it...

The key word in the post was donate-as in for the benefit of the forum members. It should be on the honor system, say for members with 25 posts or more. Once you start mailing money it makes it more complicated. Most likely the owner of the tool will never use it again or maybe loan it out by chance. Keep it simple.

As nice as that would be, the wheels do wear out eventually. I'm not sure I'd want to be the one to spend $40 on something and never see it again. Having a couple people chip in and share it would have a better chance of happening. With paypal now it would be pretty simple and safer as well.
My brother has an eraser wheel and we have used it multiple times. I actually was kicking myself for not bringing it to school with me, took me 45 minutes to take off one logo and the adhesive.

I see, sounds like a good idea, but I agree with stang, I wouldn't want to be the one to lose out on the money, as even though I may not use it often I'd probably want to use it at some point, and then would be out the cost of another one. I also agree paypal is hella easy I'm all for the idea though, and paypal would make splitting the cost between people easy. Say 5-10 people split one and mail it to each other after each of their uses.

I used one of these to get the adhesive gunk off when I de-badged my truck:

http://www.scraperite.com/

I used the orange compound. Worked great! I just popped the emblem off using a plastic putty knife looking thing I got at Harbor Freight and then soaked down the leftover goo with Goo gone and then carefully scraped it off using one of these plastic razor blades. I think it took me maybe 15 minutes from start to finish to pull each of the "RAM 1500" badges.
It's a little scary at first, but as long as you don't do anything stupid it works like a charm.

I got my eraser wheel for 20 dollars at a local Auto paint & body shop. It's worth it's weight in gold, I will never give it up!
