Default Mufflex 14" vs 18" muffler kit

What are the differences? And which one has more growl during idle and take off?

Thanks,

Nick

The 14" is going to have more growl/idle than the 18" since it is smaller. I have the mufflex 14" and its just right as far as growl/overall loudness. not loud when just cruising around but really opens up when you punch it. In my opinion the 18" would probably be too quiet for my tastes. Magnaflow is much quieter than chambered mufflers like a flowmaster of the same overall size.

I have a Magnaflow 12259 (5x8x18) SI/SO on my truck since yesterday and i wouldn't go with a 14''.

I'm deaf and hard of hearing and i can hear it in the truck at cruising speed. My intake should be here tomorow and will make it even louder.

Love my 14". Would have been disappointed if it were any quieter than it is... I was used to a Flowmaster 40 on my last ford truck.

I do want to get the loudest I can with a muffler swap...is the only downside to flowmasters the cab drone?

I have a 22 inch Hooker Max flow muffler and it's super quiet, Wish I never bought it. I will be soon switching to a Magna 14!

stangallmotor,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I am new to this, but is the magnaflow 14" the same as the mufflex "14? I know magnaflow makes the mufflex, but I guess I get mixed up of which one is which.

I am another fan of the 14". Not loud at idle or cruising, but when you open it up you can hear it. Perfect mix. i think the 18 would have been too quiet for me...
