haha, the doc is before my time, but who hasn't seen it?....really....something's wrong with the newest generations lol.

I beg of you to let them use your truck, you are the only one remotely in the area that I've had contact with. I want to buy headers badly and gibson is so close...seriously if I was within a 10 hour drive I would volunteer, but I'm damn near as far as you can get from them while staying in the USA...

If all else fails, I'll take the factory manifolds off to get measurements and match those to prior 4.7L and HEMI's to see if it's worth making modifications to fit. If so, I'll start doing that and do it for others willing to pay for it. I'm just worried if I get it to fit, what would be the benefit, if any at all. Like putting too big of an exhaust on a vehicle, if there isn't enough back pressure in the exhaust, then you lose power. That sort of thing is what's bugging me at the moment.

I emailed a pretty much all of the companies that make performance headers for the HEMI and ones that still make or made ones for the 4.7L. They all say the same thing. Here is the reply I got from Mr. Briggs at BBK:

A lot would depend on if they would make a set of headers for that engine. What would the application year range be, several or just a few? What would demand be, well, you’re the first one I have ever had ask. How many trucks have sold with this engine?

To me, I would think that the questions he's asking, he should already be able to answer since they are in charge of keeping up with market demand. Gibson I called personally because I really like their products and besides the Edelbrock headers I had on my '03 HEMI, they are the only ones I've used. Basically I was told they are looking desperately for someone with the new 4.7L to develop a system. Only problem is it has to be completely stock. From their website:
For participation in our free R & D development:
· You will be required to bring your vehicle to Gibson Performance in Corona, CA during our normal business hours, Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (951) 372-1220
· It must be a completely stock vehicle. NOT lifted or lowered with aftermarket exhausts or body kits.
· We need the vehicle for a minimum of 3-5 working days for taking measurements, prototyping and final installation

So your truck with leveling kit doesn't qualify?

They also made the dakota, durango, etc... with this engine and may be able to market headers to several groups of people.

No, Cherry Bomb exhaust and K&N CAI on it make it a no go. They want it completely stock. Also with lower miles then mine.

Yeah, I don't know. I'm guessing they want it completely stock so they know what the actually increase in power would be...... It's listed at the bottom of the page for test vehicles wanted.

Your prob soundslike a leaking exhaust manifold gasket. Which would explain the tech thinking its the Cbomb. The vac created at low idle causes value chatter, at high rpm there is enough pressure to stop the the incoming air. This was happening on my 97 Dakota was ticking me off literally, till an old gearhead showed me.
