Default Gassy Exhaust Smell...

Evening everyone,

I had this rich gassy smell in my exhaust for awile. Didn't think too much about it because I got a new exhaust put on a couple months ago. That consisted of new muffler, new exhaust pipes, and had the drivers exhaust manifold replaced too. After the new exhaust was done, the smell went away. About two weeks ago, I noticed that the rich gassy smell was back.

Bone stock 5.9, only codes recently are misfire and O2 sensor.

Anyone got any ideas?

I'd pay the money and get the o2 sensors, You'll find your fuel mileage greatly improved, you can make a special socket out of an old socket, seems like 22 mm deep, but check size with a wrench, cut a slot up the side of it so you can get the harness to stick out the side, and with a liberal amount of heat, the downstream one should crank right out. (or else just do it with the engine freshly shut down from operating temp, but keep the skin off the pipes!!) I'd change the downstream sensor first, that should clean things up considerably, you may have to measure the wire harness coming off your sensor, OR actually the wisest thing would be to go to a Dodge dealer with your VIN, cuz they seem to have the ones that work best, and not that much pricier than aftermarket ones, and with the vin, you know you're getting the right one. The misfire could be one or many of a multitude of things, but I'd start by getting the correct fuel air mixture with a new downstream o2 sensor.
