Calm down I wasn't trying to be mean, I thought you were making a joke about Ford ecoboost.

As far as I know the "eco" light under the mpg indicator is like a glorified vacuum gauge, it tells you that you are driving in a fuel efficient manner.

EDIT: I think when you said eco boost you meant MDS? where the engine runs on 4 cylinders to save fuel? I don't think that was around in 2005.

Yeah i can beat that. Let me hit reset the calculator and not touch the accelerator going downhill. Its called eco mode or mds. Eco boost would be a ford there buddy.

No mine is just a 08 hemi with MDS, the 4.7 doesn't have it but like others have said, this isn't accurate, just manually calculate it

I'm not in any gas mileage contest with anyone, but I gotta say I'm somewhat impressed with the mileage out of my '12 Express so far. I was expecting horrid mileage because of the power and some of the comments on this forum. I haven't found that to be the case.

My driving has been a little freeway and a lot of in-town driving...and I've been stomping on the gas pedal way too much getting used to the fun power this thing has. My worst tank was 15.8. Nomal has been about 16-16.5. My last fillup after doing the exhaust and intake mod was 16.9 with tons of running around town doing Christmas shopping. And since the exhaust mod, I've been mashing the gas pedal something terrible. Frankly, I can see how they claim 20 for straight highway driving if it's getting this right now. I am not disappointed one bit with this kind of mileage, with this kind of power, driving in this manner. When I start behaving after the new wears off, I'm fairly sure it'll improve.

When the manufacturers do the MPG run to prove to the government that they have met the new Government Standards :
1) the run is only done with the Ram 1500s, not the 2500 or 3500 & heavier
2) the run is done with a stripped vehicle, the lightest seats that they have that are stock, if they have a model that does Not have a/c, it is used,
3) NO body is in the vehicle as it sits on the dyno
4) Likely it doesn't have a spare tire
5) the engine is run at that particular engines Sweet spot

every manufacturer uses this method for the Government run & it is the number that they can post on the window stickers & advertising

then in fine print they write:
your mileage may vary

GTY, for some reason...and it doesn't involve driving like a grandma...I think I've always been able to achieve EPA mileage ratings, and often even exceed them...at least the highway estimate. The in-town stuff is often all over the place. Their highway stuff doesn't seem too hard to achieve, though. I imagine your signage and such doesn't help your mileage much, does it. I have a buddy in our local dirt motor club who does the same thing you do with his own business here in the area.

^I agree. All my vehicles have exceeded the sticker mileage ratings, both city and highway. Assuming I drive the limit or close to it.
