Default UCI Port in Glove Box

Is the UCI port in the Glove Box that comes with the IPOD cable only for IPODs? Will it not work for other MP3 players? I have a Sansa Fuze that I connected to this cable and I hit the AUX button like the manual says to and it will not work. Is this glove box port really only for IPODs? Is there another cable that will allow other MP3 players to be used? Makes no sense why they would make it for only one brand and not any MP3 player. The only way I can get this Sansa Fuze to work is through the AUX port on the headunit but I cannot control it through the stereo, I have to select songs from the player. thanks for the help

thanks. Yeah I have tried my Sansa MP3 several times and it will not work. Does anyone know if there is another cable that can be used in this glove box port that will enable MP3s other then an IPOD to be used. Makes no sense why this port is made to work with only one breand player.

It probably won't control your mp3 player.

I bet if you put a thumb drive filled with your music in it would work though. Make sure you are on the UCI input.

Thanks, How would the thumb drive connect though. Aren't they USB connections. Also what do you mean by "on UCI input". In the manual it says the glove box connection uses the AUX button. thanks again

Bringing this back for alittle more info. I started shopping for a new IPOD but just wanted to make sure before I spend any money on an new IPOD that the Sansa MP3 player I already have will definitly not work. So my questions are:

1) This UCI cable that comes in the truck from the factory will only recognize IPOD MP3 players? It will not play any othe brand MP3s?

2) Is there another cable that can be used to make other MP3s work? Or can the dealer do a flash or something to make the factory cable work for other brand MP3s?

Its seems crazy that the factory cable is for only 1 brand of MP3 and like I said, I already have a Sansa MP3 player with tons of music on it, so I just wanted to make sure there is no way to make this work with the port in the glove box before I spend the money on an IPOD to use this faftory UCI port. thanks

If you continue to hit the AUX button it will go to different options. UCI, BT, and it will take you to your CD.

When you find UCI it will say UCI initializing on the headunit.
