Default 3rd Gen Light on 2nd Gen

Hey guys, I've been thinking about fitting 3rd gen headlights (and maybe tail lights) to my 2nd gen Ram for a while now. I like the way the 3rd gen lights look and honestly think the 2nd gen lights/front end is starting to look a little dated.

Now I know I'll have to change the bumper too because of the dips for the 3rd gen light which will involve making custom mounts, and am pretty sure I may also need to re-shape the front of the wing to accommodate the larger lights and all that is fine - in fact I'm actually quite excited about doing that kind of stuff.

BUT...

My question is.....are there any electrical issues with doing this change?
I know the actual plugs may be different, but I was more concerned about load issues on my electrical system because am not sure what bulbs the third gen uses. Anyone know if my electrical system could handle 3rd gen lights?? Or if there are any electrical mods I'd need to make regarding loads/fuses???

Nice, that looks good. Be cool to know if he had an issues with load on the electrical system. I'm guessing probably not, but one never knows.

heres the entire bulb guide for the 02-05 rams with which youll be using the headlamps

http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...RG-Results.htm

High & low beam headlamp
9007
9007SU SilverStar Ultra: The brightest and whitest light. Up to 50% brighter, up to 40% more downroad visibility and up to 50% more sideroad visibility.
9007ST SilverStar: The brighter and whiter light. Up to 35% brighter, up to 30% more downroad visibility and up to 35% more sideroad visibility.
9007EB EcoBright - Your Environmental Choice. Save Energy - Save Money. Up to 25% brighter light. CO2 reduced 9 to 21%. Gas savings $2 to $19.
9007XV XtraVision: The brighter light for upgraded performance. Up to 30% brighter light and up to 25% more downroad visibility.
9007CB Cool Blue: The whiter light for style. Up to 25% brighter light and up to 25% more downroad visibility.

while most of that is extra noise... the headlight on 02-05 rams use a 9007 bulb, which has identical mounting points as the 9004 bulb, which is what is in our second gen. so logically speaking, you should have NO electrical issues with your headlamps

on another note... if the plugs (tails) dont fit the 3rd gens or even the front turn signals, lmc truck sells all the plugs

No problem. I use that site a lot for reference. Looking forward to seeing this project! The 9007 and the 9004 are almost identical and the plugs are identical. In an hid kit I used 9007s for mine actually...

That's actually given me a thought I hadn't considered.
I'd thought about upgrading the HIDs with the stock lights, but might be nice to upgrade to the 3rd gen and then do the HID upgrade as well. Hmmmm, the plot thickens lol
