Default Did I get screwed?

Just bought a 2011 Ram, but I'm having them put a touch screen deck in instead of the regular radio. They said it was an extra 2500 bucks. I asked if they were swapping speakers as well and he said no they all have the same speakers. Not sure I believe all that. Does anyone know about what the cost is for this deck?

I will agree that it's expensive, but it sounds about right for a swap out of OEM radios

but always remember....

Did you get the model # of the one that came with the truck? Do you have the model# that is being installed? The $2500 seems crazy to me. For $2500 you could have a completely built system installed. I would tell them to keep their radio and find one here in the classifieds. Honestly, tell them to keep it. If you want touch screen, there are enough people here that can assist with whatever you want to do.

As for the speakers...the factory 'upgraded' speakers suck too. They are absolutely HORRIBLE. The only visual difference is blue plastic cones instead of the typical cardboard. Even if they are upgrading everything with mopar parts, its still a Rip-off.

I've had the touch screen/with Alpine components and the regular deck with paper cones...they all suck. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I truely think the dealership is trying to take you to the cleaners.....which if this is true...I'd find another dealership to purchase my truck from. Get the facts and cost worksheet for these parts with labor and everything included. <----That will show you exactly what they are up too.

I would say that $2,500 is very high. You can add a high quality aftermarket deck for $1,000-$1,600 from any of the big name installers. I would advise skipping the factory deck and going aftermarket. I say this since I did a lot of research and the aftermarket radios just have way more going for them.

Hope that helps

I agree with Rough, $2500 is too much, you can get top of the line with Nav and everything for $1000, Best Buy will install it for ya for $70 or so.

Thanks for the input, ya'll pretty much confirmed what I thought. It may be too late though. It was added into the deal. Unless they can change it some how, or give me what they charged me. Not sure how that would work.

I'll be the contrarian here (well, kinda)- I prefer the factory head units, because they generally aren't stolen like Pioneer, Kenwood, etc., units. Also, I like the Uconnect feature. Upgrade the speakers and amp and enjoy it.....

I will agree that $2500 is a bit over the top for the unit and install.....
