If you bought an HID kit you should have a bulb, a ballast and a canceler (I assume you bought this). You'll go from the truck plug to the canceler to the ballast to the bulb. Theer should be plugs for all of them.
Resistors are for LED turn signals to simulate a higher load on the circuit otherwise it will think the light is out and 'hyper flash'. But this has nothing to do with HID's.

i have never had to hook up hid's like that, always just plug and play.
i tested them with the key in run position and all was good, soon as i started the truck, disaster struck, litech says the have a kit that cost 200 bucks, my supplier will give it too me for 150, still seems pricey though
