Same here, haven't put over 30 in it and I tried hard. It won't let you top off much at all, splashes all over the place.

who cares where you are on the tank
when it reads 100 miles to empty, add gas
the gas keeps the fuel pump covered in liquid & keeps it cooled down
get the level to low & your going to buy a very expensive fuel pump

I always run my tanks to empty. Never had a problem, except for the one time I ran out of gas. Luckily I was still in my driveway. lol I just hate going to the gas station, but with the ram I just fill it up drive to empty and fill it up again.

Sunday when I filled up the gauge said I had 22 miles to empty with an average mpg of 18. I figured it would take 30 plus gallons but I was forced to stop at 28, there must be some answer to your question? I am going to ask the service department the next time I am there.

I have noticed the same thing with my 32 gal tank... when the pump auto clicks off, do not try to squeeze in any more gas. It will splash out.

A few years ago, I used to drive a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. They were advertised as having a 20.5 gal tank, but I was easily able to squeeze in 24+ gals. The Ram has taken a bit of retraining for me.

Filled up last night, it took 29 gallons. The gas attandent spent two minutes trying to put another 75 cents in it to round it off. I felt like screaming, yo homey let it go already, and by the way that 75 cents was your tip, whoops.

But to get most of the 32 gal, you really got to have nerves of steel. The evic and gauge always err on the side of caution, so most times you end up pulling the trigger and filling up with 28 gal. Another car I had, I could run it down till it said zero miles to empty, and then I could still drive it for another 15 miles or so no problem.

Just so everyone knows, you can call & get a full print out of what is on your vehicle, as it rolled off the assembly line, anything that was added afterwards will not be on the sheet
It is called a BUILD SHEET or As BUILT Sheet
It is different than the original window sticker
If you didn't get an Owners Manual, they will send one to you

You can email, call, or write, maybe even get it it faxed back to you, it comes usually in 4 or 5 business days

I too supposedly have the 32 gallon gass tank as indicated on my window sticker. I have ran it down to almost empty. Had to be running on fumes a few times, and it has never taken more than 28.2 gallons. I wonder if It turns out that my truck doesnt actually have it, I can go in and demand one put in (which obviously they wouldnt want to do) or be refunded the cost of that option which is im sure a few hundred bucks? I'll have to check my window sticker that i kept...
