I was under the truck sunday and confirmed my 2010 quad cab driveshaft is aluminum. Maybe that's why my 4.7L feels so "fast" haha. It seems stupid, why not just make them all aluminum...

I have now looked at a total of 24, 2012 Ram 1500 Quad Cabs.......all had the steel driveshaft. Every other cab configuration that I checked out, were also steel driveshafts.

Has anyone else wondered, if the aluminum drive shaft vendor, has been dropped from 2012 production??

I lied to you guys. Mine is steel, I could have swore it was aluminum but now with some miles on it it is starting to rust. I would be curious as to the length difference from the four doors to the regular cab and an actual weight difference.

Interesting... sure would be nice to upgrade to an aluminum driveshaft.

I'm gonna try to get by the dealership this weekend and get some measurements. If the length won't work, there's no sense in worrying about what they weigh. If the lengths are close, I may have to weigh a couple...

I just looked at the Regular CABs

they have a RC short bed & a long bed
the printer messed up, i think
RCSB total length is 229"
RCLB total length is 226" ????????? yet the bed is 22" longer ????
http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/pdf/2011_ram_1500.pdf

Two frame lengths were available: 120-inch and 140-inch.
So take your tape measure for measuring the drive shafts

They sure don't want to tell you shaft lengths or materials used, they don't even want to tell you if it is a solid shaft or split shaft, ( center mounted u-joint )
