if you have a 2011 there are no aftermarket lsd or locker for it, nor is there aftermarket gears if you have the ZF rear end, im stuck in this same situation, only way you can get a lsd is have dodge put in the factory one

I totally agree on your first point. As long as you punch hard enough to break both loose at the start, both will spin on an open diff, but one side will likely be longer than the other.

I disagree on your second point. An LSD still has the same basic gearing geometry as an open diff, and both sides still can turn at different speeds. On the jack, the only way that they'd both turn in the same direction (on either diff type) would be if you could also get the driveshaft turning. Otherwise, it'll be opposite directions for the LSD just like the open.

I believe that a true locker (that's actually locked) WOULD do what you say, but again the driveshaft would have to be turning as well, so you'd have to be in neutral.

snursnak, not according to my window sticker. I got an slt crew, maybe it's different on other models, but on the options it shows $325 and lists:

3.92 Rear Axle Ratio
Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle

That's why I assumed the 3.92's came with lsd.

Well I just know if you build a truck on the website that's how it is...

Took me a while to find a Sport with the LSD. Seems like many dealers weren't ordering them on their trucks, but I got one with mine. 3.55 gears and LSD, but the confusing part when I was building on Ram's website for a while the build would only come up as 3.92 with the LSD. Didn't seem to give you an option for the 3.55 gear. By the time I found a Sport in the color I wanted and the LSD, I didn't care which gears it had I was so sick of looking around.

Might wanna sit down when you get the estimate for the LSD. I'm afraid it might get pricey. We got over 200 inches of snow around these parts last year....the limited slip was a must on my wish list.

I researched this and agree that, until the aftermarket comes up with some options, factory parts are the only way for now. My dealer estimated about $1350 (don't remember exactly) to install factory 4.10 gears with lsd in my `11 RCSB with 3.55 open differential.

For reference, this is my differential:

Wow, that's a lot of doh. The dealers would be doing everyone a favor by ordering more of their trucks with LSD. I had a good dealer, who was willing to find the truck with the options I wanted. He even went out of state to get it.

Yeah...$325 option ordered when the truck was built looks like a bargain now. In 2003, I paid $475 for locking diff on my GMC Sierra. This was before the All Star Packages they currently offer on the 2011 Chevy Silverado I was looking at before pulling the trigger on my new Ram.
