Default My first 4x4 and I have a few questions

I have a 2008 Laramie 4x4 and I need to get some new tires. I was wondering what the largest all terrain tire I can put on my stock 20" wheels would be. I want them as meaty and wide as possible without having issues. I plan on purchasing new wheels next year sized at 20"x9" and would like to be able to use the tires I buy now for them. Any recommendations on a specific tire would be appreciated also. Thanks in advance!

You could fit 305/55/20s, but they might rub at full lock. If they do you could look at getting a set of wheel spacers. As for tires, my favorite all terrain is the BF Goodrich All Terrain.

with stock you arent gonna beable to run much bigger or wider. I would suggest a little leveling kit and maybe looking into the 31 or 33 BF Goodrich Mud terrain tires. I have the 35in BF Goodrich mud terrains on my 99 dodge ram, with 15 inch rims and a 3in leveling kit. No rubbing even at lock.

To make a recommendation on tires we'd need to know what kind of driving you're going to be doing. If your truck is going to stay far away from mud then either the general grabber at's or nitto terra grapplers are much quieter and the tread tends to stay more intact than the bfg at's. the bfg at's will last the longest milage wise but I have always had the tread chip and cut pretty bad on the 3 sets i've had on 3 diff vehicles. if you're mainly on the road but do really need a true mud tire the toyo mud terrains last the longest followed shortly there after by the cooper stt's. the bfg mt km2's outperform both the toyo and cooper in thick slop and they grab the rocks a lot better (they are what I run on my jeep rubicon) but you won't get quite the life out of them due to the softer tread compound.
