Hello fellow Ram owners. I have been enjoying this forum, drooling over members rides and learning from excellent mod and how to write-ups for several weeks. Just wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for the knowledge and inspiration providedin this great forum.
On October 8th my wife and I were involved in a rear end collision that total lossed 4 vehicles including my beloved low miles 2002 white Ram 2wd SLT.(Begin sad violin music)

My wife is still recovering from non-life threatening injuries. Luckily I was relatively unscathed. And there is a silver

lining to this cloud of misfortune...(End sad violin music)I had just paid off my truck in August but still carried

Comp/Collision insurance and I used the settlement money with a little extra to get myself a Single Owner, low miles 2004 Ram

1500 Mineral Gray, 4x4 Quad Cab SLT Hemi. I present to you my "new" baby.(Begin Top Gun Theme Music)

She is a 1 owner with a few minor bruises that are well hidden by the Gray paint but is in overall great condition. The

previous owner had 1 into 2 Flowmaster50 HD turned down exhaust, Line-X spray on beliner, color matched hard toneau cover and

window tint installed. I like the extended, blind spot equipped and swivelable(?) mirrors that came with the towing package.

I have owned a '91 Ranger, a '70 F-100 and a '98 F150 NASCAR Special and my 2002 RAM 1500SLT (May she rest in peace) This is

my first 4x4. The black '98 Ford NASCAR Special was pretty sweet with the Rousch Racing exhaust, black rims and low profile

but was not practical for family hauling. I loved my white '02 Ram QC SLT more than any vehicle since my 1970 Mustang 351 C

coupe that I had when I was 18 and when the SLT was totalled I didn't even consider any vehicle other than a Dodge truck as a

replacement. I have already joined the Mineral Gray Metallic Ramz sub-forum. (End Top Gun Theme Music)

The only mods I have done so far are:
Smoked Vent Visors
Ram License plate frame
Replaced the Factory Stereo with an Alpine CDA-9884 (Sounds great butwill be replacing it next week)
Replaced Front door Standard Speakers with Sony Xplod XS-GTX6931 6"x9" 3-ways
Replaced Factory rear door speakers with Pioneer TS-G1343R 5-1/4" 2-ways

I am replacing the Alpine with a Kenwood KVT-516 single din (Thanks to Bruno72 for showing that it does fit despite

Crutchfield's saying it doesn't), Sirius SCC1 Sat Radio tuner,KNA-G610 GPS Navigation System and Audiovox ACA200W Backup

Camera.(went cheap with the camera because the Kenwood unit was priced way out of my budget). I will be water-proofing the

Audiovox backup camera since I read that this unit tends to take on water and condensation. Any suggestions for some kind of

spray on or similar solution would be appreciated.

Future Mods that I would like to do when the money tree blooms:
Subwoofer and Amp
CAI
Extend the turned down Flowmaster 50 HD series to the rear or side ( Too much cab noise with them turned down)
Carbon Fiber Dash Kit
Custom Grille and lower Valance.
Maybe some wheels.

I know you guys and gals are always screaming for pics but I hope I didn't go overboard for my first post. I'll post some more pics when the KVT-516 is installed. I feel REAL GOOD about my "new" Hemi RAM and look forward to learning from and sharing my RAM ownership experiences with you all.

Thanks!
Tenn4Hemi

Welcome to the forum and your first post is great!!!

Sorry about the old truck, congrats on the new truck!

Was the driver of vehicle #1 not paying attention? Did they die in the accident? No? That's a pity...

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

LOL- No she wasn't killed due to the accident ...yet. I'd hate to be her if my wife finds her after she fully recovers though!!
The accident report states that she was Texting or otherwise distracted and following improperly. She intended to continue in the fast travel lane insted of following me into the left turn only lane where I stopped and she didn't <--That is what I looked like when I checked my rearview after stopping. Even after she hit me she bounced left, crossed the median into oncoming traffic and miraculously didn't get head on'd. She and my wife had to be imobilized and transported. We finally decided to get a lawyer yesterday because dealing with the at fault Insurance company was too much of a hassle. My wife is still hurting pretty bad from tissue damage in her ribs and mid-section. None of the airbags deployed in any of the vehicles. The seatbelt both saved her life and caused her injuries. The impact was awesome. The lawyer is going to get the black-box from the ladys vehicle to see just how fast she was going and establish that she didn't even touch the brakes. She hit my truck so hard that it knocked the ass end up in the air such that the lower part of my grille instead of the bumper impacted the back bumper of the Jeep Cherokee. The cherokee was not lifted and my bumper would sit higher on a level surface. Check these pics to get an idea of the amount of force absorbed by my truck.

Sheared the bumper at the end of tube/frame reinforcement and note the tailpipe bent down.

The bed was forced into the cab so fast and hard that the paint seperated from the metal.

The impact was in the grille and very upper part of the bumper.

OH! And my SLT was so RAM tough that a couple minutes after impact a bystander had to remind me to turn her off!! I hate to think what the outcome may have been if we had been in a lesser vehicle.

Thanks,
Tenn4Hemi

Welcome to the forum,
This forum is full of great looking trucks; packed with great mod ideas and there are loads of knowledgeable and experienced people here.

Very nice intro! Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope your wife fully recovers....and soon. IMO, if the 'at fault' driver was texting, she should receive a penalty as though she was driving under the influence and her license should be taken away for a good amount of time.

AND - We all like pix! Thanks for sharing yours.

Enjoy the Z!

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad to have you join us! All I can say is wow, that was one heck of an accident, very sorry to see that but glad you're ok and I sure hope your wife recovers completely and with no lasting effects! In those circumstances, I sure would not have wanted to be in any vehicle but a Ram but congrats on your new one, looks great and thanks for sharing all the pics! Nice mod list too! Lots of great people and info here, so any help you need, just ask and I hope you enjoy the site!

Thanks again for the kind sentiments and warm welcome! I am even more sure that I made the right decision to join Ram ForumZ. I visited other similar sites but when I landed here I felt right at home. I admire how you guys and gals show genuine respect and go to great lengths to assist folks without displaying elitist attitudes.
