Default cam discussion...

i want to drop a good size cam in my 2010 ram sport but don't know what to go with I'm about 80 percent sure i want to go with inertias spartan eagle 212/216 at .560 or arrington XB 5.7 hemi truck 209/209 has anyone seen anything on the power these cams lay down? I'm making 335ish hp 370ish torque could i touch 400hp with this size cam? or am i nuts? any input will help thanks! also mds delete?? does that make it capable of putting older hemi mods? such as 6.1 intake mani for possible forced injection later?

I'd like to see what guys are saying who run these cams...for the 4th gen's, cammin is still in the infancy stage...tuning would be key as well as what to do with the vvt....

As of now, the LX guys are still getting some grief with tuning the eagles if they keep the VVT, but nothing's impossible.

For the other stuff, the 6.1L intake manifold will bolt right to the eagle heads, you will still need to get the bracket from Inertia to drop the A/C and alternator to the sides and machine the timing cover. Deleting the MDS is as simple as turning it off with a programmer, but if you want it gone permanently, then you need to swap the lifters, again, Inertia does have a kit for this.

I remember Autobred had the Arrington cam and he said it really woke the motor up, but I believe it was only about 20-25HP to the ground. CHVYKLR also has the Arrington....the new 209/214 grind, he said it really woke up the motor. Also, not very good on numbers, bu felt like a big increase. I am looking at Arrington, Inertia and Comp is coming out with a new Phaser cam for VVT Hemis after the new year

I've seen some info on the phaser cams, and if they are able to keep the phaser ring, then it'll be a whole new ball game when it comes to performance as you won't be limited to the single powerband. The Apache intake manifold is going the same way, and if you can get it tuned properly with a phased came, then you have your cake and eat it too, or in our case, have the low end grunt, and still spank that civic at speed.
