Default Front power seat motor runs but will not move seat

I searched before posting this thread but found basically no info on this in our forumz. I have the power driver seat which has three motors. Best I can tell one of them is for the forward/backward slider and there is one each for the front and rear vertical height control. My front height control doesn't work. The motor runs but the seat doesn't move and it's stuck in the lowest setting. So the only way to make the sitting position comfortable is to keep the rear lowered as well so that you don't feel like you are sliding into the floorboard. This would be fine if I was 6' 4" but I'm not.

I have done some searching outside the forumz and this seems to be a pretty common issue so I am surprised that there isn't more on it here already. The problem seems to be a small plastic gear inside the motor that strips. The gear isn't available alone so it's either buy a new seat bottom assembly ($300-500), buy a new motor ($80-90), or buy a motor rebuild kit from the one place that I can find that sells it (twomenonegarage.com for about $50).

Anyone else have this issue? I know I'm not the only one. Anyone have any other info or thoughts to fix it? Thanks.

I have e ame problem and I would like to get it fixed also Yes it is the gear inside that was stripped. I am not sure if you can take it apart and put a new gear in I dont see why you couldnt. I was asking around to see if there was a way to manually adjust the ront height just so i didnt have to go through the trouble if getting a new motor and so on but had no luck.

there is a guy on eba who sells the motors and i have came across a few gears actually but never bought it.. I will save this for a summer project. I am not trying to spend $300 on a new seat frame when i can fix it myself

Yeah, the guys at the site I linked sell the motors as well as a rebuild kit that contains the offending gear. I believe you can crack open the motor and replace the gear. They include instructions with the product and I'm not sure but they may be on their site as well. It sounds like a couple hour job. Like you, I would rather just manually adjust it if possible and leave it alone but I have yet to figure out how to do so.
