Default 2011 poor brakes

Hi there, i have a 2011 Ram Big Horn with 4000 km on it so far and I love the truck, except for the braking power. Its seems that I have to put an excessive amount of force on the brakes to stop. I thought at first that the disks and pads just need to wear in but surely they should be worn in by now. Anyone else have this issue.

I have 17000 miles on mine and the brakes are fine! I know they are less "touchy" than a 2010 Ford I drove, but not worse. If they are that bad, I would have the dealer take a look at them!

My 2010 F150 had brakes like a sports car. My 2011 Ram feels super mushy. Like you, I was hoping things would get better with some miles. Casual braking requires the pedal to be pushed 1/2 way in. I had to hit them hard the other day for a quick stop and there was certainly some pucker factor not knowing if I was going to stop. I'm thinking they may need to be bled a little?

I wouldn't say the pedal was spongy or anything, it feels like the brakes are wet all the time, it brought it home more when I drove a chev silverado the other day and put the brakes on normally and stopped dead almost.

Compared with a Ford they are certainly lacking, but they are almost identical to the braking power I had with my old 99 Dakota. I've never had an issue coming to a stop with the Ram and I've had a few holy sh*t stops with her in city traffic. You'll get used to them after awhile.

the dodge is pretty heavy compared to the other trucks u mentioned. stainless steel brake lines would be the cheapest most effective upgrade u could do, rubber lines swell with pressure which will make the pedal travel farther.

I have a 2011 Ram Sport and find my brakes are excellent. I work on the oilpatch up here in Alberta and have driven pretty much every brand of truck in a fleet or rental vehicle over the last year or two, I can't say I have noticed much of a difference between brands.

My brother bought a 2011 Tacoma a few months ago, when I drove it it had one of the mushiest brake pedals I have ever felt. That was my only shocking brake comparison

No issues with mine. They brakes seem better than the brakes on my old 2006 mustang and my old 2011 genesis

Brakes feel good on mine. I actualy think they are prety good compared to the 08 f150 I have. I feel like the f150 will never stop. I hate the brakes on my 08 f150. The brakes on the ram also feel almost better then the brakes I had on my 04 heratage. And the heritage had drilled and slotted rotors. And great pads.

I haven't noticed any issues with the braking performance on my 2011 Ram 1500. I have pulled a 2500lb pop up camper for a 250 mile trip without a trailer brake controller and found the performance to be acceptable. That being said, I'll be buying a brake controller if I take that camper out again.
