Default 20" stock wheels with a 17" stock spare?

Is this suppose to be this way? Was looking underneath my truck and saw i had a 17" spare. My stock wheels are 275/60R20 and my spare is 235/85R17. Is this correct???

Yeah, it's just as tall as the 20" (within a millimeter or two) but not sure why they would do that...

Thanks guys, was worried that factory made a mistake, also the tread on it is horrible, barely any on it. Another fail from chrysler. Still love my truck though.

It is a type of temporary tire if I read correctly somewhere...not temporary like the tiny donut on many cars, but not intended for long term use.

I used it earlier this week and it worked fine. Did its job and got me to the tire store.

Had this issue before. The claim is that the 20 won't fit in the spare space. In reality, they don't want to spend the extra money on a wheel. Even if it is a plastic cover FAUX chrome.

someone else told me the 20 wouldn't fit, but what i dont get the the 17 is the same diameter as the 20 would be so Theoretically it would have to fit

I was laying under the truck the other day checking out what it was going to take for a muffler swap and saw that spare. I had noticed the window sticker said "Full Size Spare Tire". I saw that it was 17" and measured the total tire height. It's been 2 weeks ago now, and I can't recall the exact measurements, but the spare was a bit shorter than my 20" tires. Later I lowered the spare to install my receiver hitch, and when I cranked it back under the truck, I could tell that the 20's on my truck would not fit that space. I even put a couple of rubber bumpers on some metal parts that were extremely close to the spare. Reading the data on the sidewall, it indicates that while it's a temporary tire, it does not appear to be one of those almost useless low speed, low mile donuts.

the 20 will fit under there but the center of the 20 is too small to stick the winch through. so if your loaded to the hilt and you have a flat u just leave your flat tire on the side of the road.
