Default Custom Tow Hook Fabrication

Ok, here is my plan for the next few weeks:

Day 1 (today): Go to the local farm store and get two 20,000 pound rated D rings.

Day 2: Go and find some distributer of steel and get a 1/2 inch thick steel plate and some angle iron, and enough heavy duty bolts to install it across the front of my frame.

Day 3: Remove front bumper, make all measurements and a wood template, cut steel plate, weld on D rings, and hopefully install onto the truck with little to no problems. I plan on welding the angle iron to the back of the plate and to the back of the frame after bolting on for a little added strength.

Any suggestions, warnings, or tips to make this go as easy as possible and the hooks not rip off the front of the truck on there first use? These most likely will be heavily used and I do not want the possiblily of them failing.

Ill post pics here when i get it all done!

I have seen people fab hitch receivers from rectangular tubing and still use there existing tow hooks. It might be worth trying something like that, in the long run you could get a winch on a hitch cradle and have an easy way to mount it and be able to use it in te front or back

Stangshcky12, I've thought about that but my bull bar would get in the way and make all the work to make the hitch pointless... My truck doesn't have tow hooks at all right now. Should have it came with some? I priced them online but they are way out of my budget.
