in my 2009, the rear head rests are much smaller than the front ones
as was mentioned the front ones are also shaped badly, i turned them around too
I have thought about using the back ones on the front seats, if they fit, i will do it

Thanks for the suggestions folks! I'm currently in the market for some '09 or '10 rear headrests. Called the salvage yards today and no luck with anything in stock yet.

I took them off and keep them under the sear like others have done in case I need them. Seems to work ok, but yeah what a poor design..

No plan to have passengers back there.
Gotta ask why you got a QC then...? lol

FYI, the 2010 and 2009(I assume...I have a 2010) rear headrests are lower than the 2011+ ones. You could find a used set on ebay or junkyard, or buy from dealer....I have had no issues with mine.

As for the front headrests, they hurt my neck (I'm 6'4" if that matters)...I reversed them and they hurt that way too....I think eventually I'll buy rear 2011+ headrests for the fronts....see if that works out.

The back seat area is a convenient, secure and dry place place to carry stuff (like my camera and computer), and I can lean the driver's seat back if I want to stop and sleep. And it just looks cooler than a regular cab to me.

About turning my front headrest around, I found a neck cushion at Walmart that I slipped on the rest. Makes it pretty comfortable.

^ I was just pokin' fun I rarely have anyone in the back of my QC, but it's nice to be able to for the few times you need it. The most common passengers in my truck are the dogs in the back and the wife in the passenger side when we travel. The truck is sure handy then!

You use that cushion with the headrests in the normal, forward position? Or reversed?

Like many others, I can relate to this thread. It's the first thing I notice during a test drive attempting to back up the truck. I turned around to look, and immediately thought to myself that I can't see anything looking back. I removed mine because I have high back Recaro booster seats for my kids, and stored mine in the closet.

However, I never noticed the fronts being uncomfortable but I'm only 5'11'. That being said, I also noticed that my dealer (or someone) adjusted my headrest a couple clicks higher which might explain this. Those having discomfort should try raising them up. You'll notice that raising them up will allow your head to go back more rather than feeling like your getting pushed forward.

Also, these uncomfortable head rest are properly called head restraints and all manufactures from Acuras to Volvos are getting complaints about them being a pain in the neck...pun intended. Manufactures seem to want that coveted IIHS crash safety rating. Since my back seat head restraints are already out, I might try that suggestion about swapping the fronts with the rear if they give that provide proper head restraints, and more viability when backing up.

Curious, anyone have photos comparison of the smaller 2009-2010 headrest vs. the larger 2011-2012's?

Older:

Newer:

I like the smaller ones because they don't block my view, but when there is a passenger back there they can raise them up high and they still give head restraint. Also notice my 2010 has no center headrest. I'm thinking the newer, large rear ones would work well for the fronts(I tried my small rears in the front but they were too short and looked weird).

If anyone could snap a pic for me of their larger rears in the front I'd really appreciate it (before I buy a set).
