It Works!!!!!!!

I found the end of cable it was wrapped up in the main harness around the left end of the glove box opening tied to a cross bar. Also the lead for the glove box light was wrapped in there too.

This worked out well because I got rid of the cheap looking open bin and replaced it with the highline glove box cover and bin with USB window.
The RES 130 headunit plays mp3's just fine using a USB memory stick.

BTW the parts needed to convert to the Highline glove box are:

Slate/Medium GreyStone Glove Box Cover Part # 1NM00BD3AA
Slate Glove Box Bin Part # 1SF291DVAC
Glove Box Switch and Light Part # 4562022
Glover Box Cover Striker Part # ????????

Thanks for everyones assistance with the USB harness and MP3 files.

My dealer has the Mopar Ipod cable so today I went to buy it. The parts guy shows me it and one end is a micro USB male connector and I told him my Uconnect doesn't have that type of port open it has a 8 pin female connector. So he then shows me actual Uconnect box he had in stock and guess what there really is USB Micro femail port that the Ipod cable plugs into.

It turns what out I thought was the open UCI port with 8 pins is not correct. My Uconnect box already has a cable plugged into it. I thought is was a coax antenna cable but really it's the USB Ipod cable. I just need to find out where the cable terminates in the dash....go figure.

So anyone who has a 2012 Express model with the factory Uconnect you may already be set to hookup to USB memory sticks/ MP3 players and Ipods. I'll let you know where this cable goes to. This is cool, it saves me another $37.50 for a cable.
I appreciate it! Don't forget to post pics and help others, i'm just glad i was right and not wrong!

Owners with a Express model and factory installed Uconnect you should have the cables and harness to swap
out that nasty looking glove box bin for the Highline version glove box complete with light and USB port.
The project is about complete with one part needed, I forgot to order the striker for the glove box cover.

The Uconnect box with the USB/Ipod cable plugged in from the factory.

The glove box light switch harness and USB/Ipod cable are tightly wrapped in the main harness behind this metal brace on the top left.

This is what the two connector look like. The USB is formed so the it slides and locks into the back of the glove box bin.

This is how the USB cable locks into the back of the glove box bin.

Finished product. The USB connector has a ring around it that lights.

With the cover closed it's much cleaner and not so utilitariun looking. There
is allot to that cover I can see why it cost so much. The hinge gets tucked
inside the dash and is fun to install.

This is what it had before with the original bin.

Ok, so after looking into this a bit more, Chrysler has these connectors as a giveaway connection instead of having different dash harnesses. This circuit is taped as JMR mentioned to the main IP (Instrument panel) harness. If you have this vehicle with Uconnect and no USB connector, then you will want to look at the module to see if you have the mini USB connector mounted to the module. Please see his pictures below for the module & connection. If that is there then look on the main harness and you will find the USB connector as well as the light circuit for the compartment if you decide to replace the compartment like JMR did.

I finished the project by bolting in the glove box stiker part # 68050731AA.
It looks so much better without that open bin plus it's nice to play MP3 from a USB flash drive.
