Mine developed the same problem this morning, except its dash vents only. Does anyone know if the recall applies to the electronic system, the manual one, or both?

Check out the Recall/TSB section, looks like there are a couple in there for 2009 trucks with A/C problems: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35.

The dealership looked at my VIN # & told me that my particular Ram build date was NOT having any issues, but they looked at it any way
The recall is actually a software fix on a lot of the '09s, they just plug in that hand held machine, type in your VIN#, type in a code if needed & hit some buttons

johnny5, you should think about filling in your Profile, something about your vehicle, right now it just reads MALE, i wouldn't even know that it was an '09 except it is posted under 2009 ram forum

Actually there is a little more to it. I finally just got around to taking my Ram in for the A/C recall and the front ball joint replacement in early November. I didn't have any problems with either of them that was noticeable so I took my time getting into the dealer. I have 30,000 miles on the OD.

On my first appointment they replaced the tie rods and did a front end alignment but after inspecting the A/C they needed to replace an actuator that controls the door that directs the air to the different vents. I was told that not all Rams have to have this replaced but after inspection per the recall my Ram had the part that was defective. They ordered it and it was replaced a couple of days later along with the A/C reprogramming.

I had this happen a week ago. Every time I would start my vehicle I would get a loud clicking sound behind the dash control panel. It would last for about 5 seconds and then stop. I was not able to change the flow of air. I took it in this week and they ordered an actuator to fix it. I got it back yesterday with no problems.
