Default Dynomax for Christmas

Hello, sorry for a first post here and not in the introduction area. My wife bought me a Dynamax Ultra Flo for Christmas. Its a SI/DO. I picked it out on Amazon, but thought it was a SI/SO, my bad for not doing some more research. Ball park, how much is it going to cost me to get this thing installed? I imagine I'll need two new tail pipes from the muffler back if I set it up to have both pipes exit under the bumper. I guess I could stick with the stock exit point, and just add one pipe to match on the other side, but not sure I like the look of that. I saw on here where somebody just put some turn down tips right on the muffler. Any down sides to doing that. I want to use her gift, especially since I screwed up telling her what I wanted, but I can't afford to get into a lot more expense either. Thanks.

By the way this is a great forum and I've learned so much about my truck the last couple months that I've been here.

Hi!

Is it a 3" single in / 2.5" dual out muffler?

If so....I think you should reverse it (nothing wrong with doing so assuming it's a straight through type muffler), and have an exhaust shop cut out your stock y pipe, and extend those two pipes into the muffler. Then have then attach the other side of the muffler to you single tailpipe. This would be a very good performing setup, you'll be getting rid of the restrictive stock y pipe, and getting rid of the restrictive stock muffler, and not upsetting the wife! lol. Should be pretty inexpensive as well. There's another member on here running a similar setup (using the muffler backwards, as the y pipe) and he has one of the fastest truck on the forum. I think it runs 12's in the 1/4.

Yes, that's the configuration. What you are suggesting had crossed my mind. This would remove the cat right? Is that not going to screw with some sensors?

Edit: I think you are saying replace behind the cats, like a cat back. Wasn't thinking when I first wrote that.

Yes sort of like a cat back. It wouldn't mess with the cats or O2 sensors. It'd be a slick setup

I think I'm going to try what you are suggesting. May take it in tomorrow and have the shop take a look at it. I crawled under there the other day and it looks like it would be much easier and better for the entire system than running two tail pipes. I'll post back tomorrow if I get it done, I'll try to post a video if I can figure out how.

It's done. It's pretty loud, but not too loud, sound is pretty much spot on. Performance wise, it's raining out and I have factory tires, so I can't really say anything. It spins every time you touch the throttle, crappy tires. Tomorrow is supposed to be a better day, I'll try to report back something then. I wish I had used the programmer to do some data logging for a before and after comparison.

Will do if it dries up tomorrow. The welds are kinda crappy looking, imo, but shouldn't make much difference in the way it runs.

Finally had a chance to take some pics and video, video is poor audio quality but you can get a general idea of what it sounds like and hear the exhaust leak. Yep, that's right, it leaks. I didn't realize it until late Friday afternoon, when I had it running and my wife opened her door. You don't hear it inside unless you really get on it, but it sounds like crap standing outside. The shop was closed yesterday, so I guess I'll have to have one of the family run it over while my wife delivers our baby tomorrow, lol.
