TransEngineer:

Do you know if it would be possible to bolt up a 66rfe to my truck, and have it work properly (electronics included)...?

I'd love to run 4.56's with my 4.7L, it needs a little more off the line grunt, and paired with that better first gear would be great, and I'd still keep my good final ratio.

If I keep my current trans I'm not going to go to 4.56, I'm going to go with 4.10.

Sean, no, if you just bolt in a 66RFE it won't shift properly, so that's no easy solution.

I will start a poll question on this.. just figured out how (there's an option at the bottom of new thread page).

Bummer, I was hoping years later I could figure out a way to make it work.

OK, I just posted this as a separate poll question (in the 2011 Ram forum), so please go vote there rather than clogging up this thread. Thanks.....

Thanks for all the feedback guys,
I do back off the throttle to force an up shift, but thats
not letting me accelarate any more than maybe 1"
of pedal, using none or the low rpm torque.Wasting tons of gas!
Had I known this I wouldn't have bought it, comming from
a stick shift truck.
As I drive almost all the time on streets with hundreds of
timed traffic lights. I will be searching for a deal on a Wrecked
Challenger's Manual trans

I thought I was the only one who's truck operated like this. I have a 2011 Express R/C with 3:55 anti-spin. When driving in traffic about 35 mph and you need to pass a car or just get out of someone's way, with 1/4 throttle depression mine revs up in 3500-4000 range. If I'm going 50 mph it takes a little more throttle, but now it will rev in 5000-5700 rpm range. It all ways seem to down shift to too low of a gear. With 400 ft/lb of torque I feel it should'nt need to rev like a small V-6. I got 4400 miles on it and still learning how get what I need out of it without bumping the rev limitor This is my only complaint, love the truck.

Trans Swap to Manual

Oh you know it man!
If you could see me Flying over the Upper deck of the
Queens Borough NYC bridge late night Racing the Cabs and Limos,
and the occational Beemer! Havn't lost yet! Hah,
Prob cause I got a bigger set, and know every turn and bump!
I was calling around looking for some one to make the swap.
Gonna be crazy expensive, and everything has to be changed.
Drive Shaft, rear end, and full suspension,
Brakes, Engine, computer Where does it end,
Easily over 24K. not till I pay it off. maybe 2-3 yrs.
We can dream and if I get Lotsa Overtime Who Knows!

Engine, brakes, rear end, and suspension would not have to be changed. Only the auto trans for the manual gearbox, probably the driveshaft, pedal set, clutch master cylinder, and the pcm.

Been looking at the Tremac site.
They do make or have everything to do the swap!
I'm wondering if the stock 392 posi rear would hold up.
And whenever the tuner stuff gets worked out maybe in January.
