Default Can you chop a wheel? (Literally)

So I got the crazy idea I wanted tubs, well maybe not tubs but a wider stance in the rear. My wheels looked like they were 2 piece but I checked and it didn't appear they are just looks. I can't just buy new wheels because they are discontinued and I really like these! Has any one Hurd or know if its possible to either stretch a wheel to make it wider or cut the center out and weld it in a wider rim? I know anythings possible but this I'm not sure of. . .

Find a wheels specialty shop, they should be able to do it. There are a couple places around me that I know can do that. I think it is much more reasonably priced than you'd think too.

Most steel wheels on vehicles are welded....and also a weld is usually stronger than the base material. I don't think there's any reason to be concerned with a welded wheel, but that's JMO.

Oh I see, I didn't click the link lol! Still I don't understand why you'd be hesitant with that....is it because of dissimilar material? Or what?

No i just know how shitty some welders are LOL you would be really suprised if you x rayed have the welded stuff / see heres how welders look at it (and this comes right out of a welders mouth not mine) if i know its getting inspected i take my time if i know its not getting inspected i dont care and thats from guys welding fuel tanks ( refinery tanks not cars) and other things that can go boom. We did a test once at out shop since robots build cars now we took 50 welds from humans and 50 welds from robots the robots -0 failed humans -32 failed.

And i had a tubbed car with fat tires on it it before but it also ran 9 secs in the 1/4 mile just think tubbing it would be overkill unless it had something to back it up. Just my opion

Gotcha, makes perfect sense. I wouldn't want to ride around on wheels welded by myself lol. I trust my welding for stupid crap that doesn't really matter though I'm one of the crappy self taught welders, but it gets the job done for when you just simply need two pieces stuck together.
