Default Window tint

I have a appointment on the 13 to get my front windows tinted. Ram crew cab. I have heard that the back windows are 20%. Trying to decided what percentage I should get the front, This is a white truck, I think that the same as the rear would look the best, but I was thinking about 35% on the front. A litter better visibility & may be a little more to the laws liking. What is your thoughts on how this will look with the different % of tint from front and back.

I did mine with 5% on all the back windows and 20% on the front. It looks really good to me and I would bet that 35% would look good as well. When the doors are closed and all the windows are tinted it makes the front window look a lot darker than they are. Mine looks like limo all the way around.

I had a 4 door black Jimmy that had 20% tints on all windows behind the front doors and and a lighter tint (factory) on the front doors. With the truck being black, it made the fronts look darker, especially at night. One night I was pulled over by a corrupt RCMP officer and part of the "shake down" was he looked very carefully to ensure that there was no film on the front and it was indeed factory tint.

So darker tints on back/lighter on front have a good effect IMHO.

I did LIMO on all 4 doors and the back window. Then did the visor strip across the windshield. Looks great.

Don't visit Iowa with tinted side windows, you will get stopped, especially on interstate. In Iowa you cannot go darker than 30% this would include any factory tinting on side windows/windshield.

Senate File 2015
"Under current law, the front windshield, side windows, and any side/wings to the right and left of the driver must not be excessively dark or reflective so that it is difficult for a person outside the motor vehicle to see into the motor vehicle. Pursuant to administrative rules, "excessively dark or reflective" means that the window does not meet a minimum standard of transparency of 70 percent light transmittance."

I lived in AR and had 5% on all the glass. Then, I had 20% on the ENTIRE windshield. It was great. I never needed sunglasses. I really liked it, but it wasn't for everyone. But...when I moved to great, wonderful, all hail to the best state Texas (sarcasm), I had to rip it all off and redo it with 35%. Now it's way too light. I hate it.

Sorry if this offends you but if you really had 20% on the ENTIRE windshield, not only were you in violation of tint laws in every state but you're an idiot. 20% on the windshield would make you a danger to yourself and anyone on the road with you as it would limit your ability to see far too much at night.

Apparently you managed to get away with it but if you had been involved in an accident (particularly if it involved a pedestrian) your insurance would likely have refused to pay any claims and you could have been held personally and financially responsible for any claims.
