Default Need ABS codes pulled

So, I thought it would be nice to take the family to see the Christmas lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We drive through at a whopping 5-10mph with everyone and get to see them. Nice. Then we enter the inside of the track. Slowly rolling on the lower angle of the banking. We were on the banking for about 2 minutes when the ESP/BAS and Traction Control lights come on. Now they won't go off. Where can I go to get the codes pulled? The dealership wants $97 to pull the codes. Of course, they said they'll put it toward the repair, but I don't want them doing the repair, so... Just wondering if there's another option. The truck has never been wrecked, off-road, or anything. It's driving fine now. I just can't believe the issues I've had with this truck since I bought it and how all the little things pop up.

You have a couple of options:

A. Go to an auto parts store. A lot of them will pull codes for free. They may also be able to clear them. If so, ask them to do that. Then, watch and see if they come back.

B. If you have EVIC in your truck, you can do the "key dance" to pull the codes. Have a paper and pencil handy, then do this:

(1) Cycle the ignition key On - Off - On - Off – On within 5 seconds.

(2) The Odometer will show the P-code.

(3) If no DTC’s are present, the cluster will display one of two texts: “P1684” and “done” or only “done.” P1684 indicates that the memory has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycles and does not indicate a problem. Done indicates that NO DTCs are present.

C. You can clear your own codes by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. Then re-attach the cable and start the truck. If the trouble lights don't come on after a drive, yer good. If it comes back, get thee to a dealer.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. I'll get to work in the morning!
