Question Exhaust Experts! Need Advice/Opinions!

Well Christmas money is starting to come slowly and just looking to start stacking my mods on for the summer. This is one of my TOP ones I want to do first.

Just need your guys opinion. Here are two options to make a TRUE dual exhaust for my beast

1) TRUE DUAL: I want to remove my "Y" and install a single muffler into each run. Instead of the crappy single in/dual out stock setup.

What kind of muffler would you guys suggest. I am sticking with magnaflow I just love the sound.
Oval or round body?? Whats the difference??

PROBLEM: I can't seem to find a muffler that allows me to go from a 3" Inlet to a 2.5" Outlet. Anyone have ideas??

2) SOMEWHAT TRUE DUAL: Again remove the "y" run dual pipes back to an "X" flow muffler than dual out the back end?

Just looking to see what you guys think.
As you can see from below its a simple install.. just need to find the right muffler(s) to make it work.

Why do you want "true duals"? I'm not sure if you realize this or not but if you do this you will lose power. The y pipe setup you have now is very nice and will outperform duals that don't have a crossover. If you are set on it for whatever reason then at least do the x pipe muffler, that will perform much better than true duals without a crossover, although again not as good as the y pipe setup.

Honestly I haven't realized that, thus why I am asking you members for your opinions ha

lol ok. Yeah a crossover (Y, X, or H pipe) in the exhaust helps power potential. You will definitely lose power doing true duals (and add weight). Also the x pipe muffler is decent but I still think it's worse than the y pipe you have (plus it's more weight). Do you have the stock muffler now? What about headers? Honestly if you wanted to do something with the exhaust I'd say buy some mandrel bends and have them welded in place of the crush bends you have in front of the y pipe, but it may not even be a noticeable difference...

Another (expensive) option would be to run an x pipe under the tail shaft of the transmission (so the downpipes from the engine are equal length). That would perform better than the y pipe (but only by a few hp at most) and again it'd be heavier. Honestly, you have about as good of a setup as there is.

I already have the magnaflow exhaust setup installed & that Y with an Airraid intake.
Up here in Northern Ontario noone carries the equipment for mandrel bends, believe me I asked and looked around when I got my Y pipe done.

The headers are on my "to do" list. I just don't really feel like killing my warranty less than a year in you know what I mean?

I am just looking for that little bit more pep but its hard without voiding the warranty ha

I hear you on the warranty. Yeah headers would be really the only thing to do that would be noticeable as far as the exhaust goes.

Personally and this is just my opinion I would stick with what you have except for maybe adding headers and just swap the muffler with an 18" Magnaflow or a size that fits your ears. I'm running the 18" with the same setup you have now and love it.

Red05ram can you elaborate? So you have long tubes, then an x pipe, then muffler? This would be a good setup as well, but it would be about the same as what he has(except the headers) so I don't think it's worth spending a lot of money just to change it up.
