Default Interior lighting question

I have noticed that after I open the door to my 06 1500 Mega cab that my interior cab light stay on for about 10 secs and then shut off. The only way to get them to stay on is to put the key in the ignition to acc and turn the light knob to full. Other than that they will shut off in 10secs no matter what. I dont know if this is normal but i thought they were to stay illuminated for 30secs. If anyone has any ideas why its like this and how to change it to 30secs I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you all.

yeah its normal that it cuts off in the amount of time you said.. im not sure if you can make it stay on longer or not. i didnt think the truck had to be on acc. to make the light come on. i thought you just had to turn the light knob to full but i could be wrong about that since i never tried it except with truck running.

Yeah, I noticed today that if the ignition is on the lights will remain on like normal. So I guess it's just their safety feature to stop battery drain. Thanks though.

Default Interior lights not staying on.

I had the same problem with mine about three weeks ago. I also noticed at the same time I has having problems with the lights the temperature readout in the overhead unit was stuck on 39 degrees even though it was about 54 at the time. I figured that it was just a glitch in the system, so I unhooked the neg battery cable for about 15 mins. When I hooked it back up the interior lights remained on as they should with no key in the acc position and the outside temp readout is accurate again. Some have said to get the truck flashed but I didn't think that it was necessary unless the battery cable reset didn't work.
Good luck.

Yeah thanks man. I always forget about the simple things like the negative cable. I did that and everything seems to be in normal working order. Thanks again.
